Determining your product requirement:
- Measure the surface area you wish to
- Determine which products are needed for the surface you wish to paint and the finish you wish to achieve.
- Check the Theoretical Spread Rates (TSR) on each of the specified products and see how many coats of each are recommended, then calculate what quantities of each product you will require, remembering to make adjustments for the porosity for each TSRs are based on products applied to smooth, sealed surfaces. (E.g. a soft wood will absorb more paint than hard wood, so allow for a lower spread rate on porous surfaces).
- Check out the specifications on all the top coat choices (referring to the relevant data sheets) and decide which is right for
STAINING OR VARNISHING NEW WOOD
Surface Preparation
- Sand old paint to a clean, smooth
- Fill imperfections or holes with suitable wood filler and sand
- Remove sanding
Application Method
- Apply 2 coats of WoodLusta Gloss or Allow 6 hours to dry between coats.
- If you wish to use an oil/stain then Apply Wood1st in place of WoodLusta. (please be aware that WoodLusta is developed to be very hard wearing, an oil will not provide protection against abrasion.)
PREVIOUSLY VARNISHED WOOD
Surface Preparation
- Sand wood to a clean, smooth finish. Remove sanding dust.
Application Method
- Apply 2 coats of WoodLusta Gloss or Allow 6 hours to dry between coats
PAINTING NEW WOOD
Surface Preparation
- Sand old paint to a clean, smooth finish.
- Fill imperfections or holes with suitable wood filler and sand
- Remove sanding
Application Method
- Apply 1 coat of Paintcor’s UniSub, allow 2 hours drying.
- Apply 2 topcoats of Paintcor’s HiGlo, LoGlo or EnduraCoat Enamels, or for an environmentally friendly option, apply 2 top coats of Paintcor’s Elegance or EnviroCoat
NOTE: Enamels are far more hard wearing compared to acrylics, if you require the best abrasion resistance Paintcor recommends using EnduraCoat as a final coat.
