SURFACE PREPARATION AND APPLICATION

New Plaster

  1. Remove all loose, friable material.
  2. If plaster is porous and under bound, apply 1 coat of Paintcor’s AcrySeal Acrylic Sealer diluted 1:1 with water. Allow to dry then apply 1 coat of Paintcor’s AcrylUnder acrylic undercoat, allow to dry.
  3. If the plaster is hard and of good quality, apply 1 coat of Paintcor’s PlasterPrime and allow to dry.
  4. Finally apply 2 coats of EnviroCoat.

Previously Painted Plaster

  1. Check adhesion of existing paint. (Cross hatch adhesion test). Using a Stanley knife, cut through the paint surface to the substrate vertically and horizontally approximately 3mm apart, creating little squares. If the edges of the squares curl up, and the square can easily be removed, this means the adhesion of the old paint system is failing, remove all old paint back to existing plaster.
  2. Apply 1 coat of Paintcor’s AcrySeal Acrylic Sealer to plaster. Allow to dry.
  3. Apply 1 coat of Paintcor’s AcrylUnder Acrylic Undercoat and allow to dry.
  4. Finally apply 2 coats of EnviroCoat. Allow to dry between coats.
  5. If the paint system is in good condition, wash down walls to remove dirt and dust. Allow to dry.
  6. Apply 2 coats EnviroCoat. Allow 60 minutes @ 25°C to dry between coats.

Previously Painted Mild Steel

  1. Check adhesion (Cross hatch adhesion test). Using a Stanley knife, cut through the paint surface to the substrate vertically and horizontally approximately 3mm apart, creating little squares. If the edges of the squares curl up, and the squares can easily be removed, this means the adhesion of the old paint system is failing.
  2. Remove all loose and peeling paint back to bare steel.
  3. Sand existing paint to a clean matt finish and exposed metal to a bright finish. Remove sanding dust.
  4. Spot prime exposed metal (if any) with 2 coats Paintcor’s EnviroPrime or 1 coat of Paintcor’s AllPrime Plus. Allow to dry between coats.
