Determining your product requirement:

  • Measure the surface area you wish to
  • Determine which products are needed for the surface you wish to paint and the finish you wish to achieve.
  • Check the Theoretical Spread Rates (TSR) on each of the specified products and see how many coats of each are recommended, then calculate what quantities of each product you will require, remembering to make adjustments for the porosity for each surface. TSRs are based on products applied to smooth, sealed (E.g. an unsealed scratch plaster surface will absorb more paint than a sealed smooth one, so allow for a lower spread rate on porous surfaces).
  • Check out the specifications on all the top coat choices (referring to the relevant data sheets) and decide which is right for

NEW SMOOTH CEMENT PLASTER

Surface Preparation

  1. Brush the plaster to remove loose friable
  2. Check the plaster quality by rubbing it with your hand, if friable material continues to fall from the plaster, then it is of poor quality, if the plaster is firm when rubbing, and does not release any particles after being dry brushed, then it is of good
  3. If the plaster is very smooth and of good quality, then apply 1 coat of Paintcor’s Plaster Prime Trade or Allow 6 hours @ 25 degrees C to dry.
  4. If the plaster is of poor quality (continues to release particles after brushing) then dilute AcrySeal 1:1 with water and apply to the plaster. Allow 45 minutes to dry @ 25 degrees

Application Method.

  1. Apply 2 top coats of your choice. Allow to dry between coats.

Where PlasterPrime Should Be Used.

PlasterPrime should only be used on all new GOOD QUALITY plaster, on plaster below D.P.C. and after the

application of Paintcor’s KlinkaSeal to stop rising damp.

All plaster can be sealed with Paintcor’s AcrySeal before painting especially if corrective coatings are going to be used like FlashSkim, SubTex or AcrylUnder. AcrySeal must not be used over Paintcors KlinkaSeal damp proofing system.

Please Note: Friable or under bound plaster must first be sealed with Paintcor’s AcrySeal to bind the poor plaster before Undercoats and top coats are applied.
